Virtual Graduation Ceremony

Summer is quickly approaching us, but even though progress is being made with vaccination rates against COVID-19, students were not given the option to walk for graduation. A virtual ceremony is scheduled to commence on June 18th, 2021 at 3 p.m.  A link to watch the livestream will be available the day of the ceremony under the graduation tab on the school website.

According to the graduation evaluator, 795 students are expected to graduate from Fall, Winter and Spring as well as 350 from Fall and Summer of 2021. Students participating in graduation are asked to keep an eye out for any emails from SFCC or Full Measure, the platform in which the ceremony is being held. Be sure to check the spam folder as things may have ended up there.

Along with staying updated on any information regarding graduation, students are expected to have uploaded a photo of themselves through Full Measure before the ceremony which will serve a purpose during graduation.

The ability to walk for graduation was not the only thing altered by the pandemic.

“We will be sending out grad boxes with caps, diploma covers, and swag in May,” Jessica Borgan from SFCC Student Services said. “We would have had to determine the student’s sizes for the gowns to be sent out with the grad box. Since we have no way of knowing this without asking, we had originally chosen not to send out gowns in the packages. After we heard from some students that they wanted gowns we did the best we could to get messaging out to our students asking for their sizes. Unfortunately, we had a very short turnaround time for this.”

Despite all of the alterations that needed to be made, students that wanted gowns are able to order them and graduation will move forward. Congratulations to all of our graduating students!
