Local French Restaurants to Visit in Spokane

Bonjour! Puis-je prendre votre commande?> Is what a waiter from France would say when they came to your table to take your order. But since we’re nowhere close to France we just get the casual “Order whenever you’re ready” from the drive thru people. But what if I told you there are in fact spots here in Spokane where you can go to get a French-like experience.

Madeleine’s Café & Patisserie

Madeleine’s Café & Patisserie is a small family-owned business that blossomed from a humble catering company into a beloved downtown icon. They are located on Main in Downtown Spokane, at walking distance to Riverfront Park.  Right as you walk in you’re greeted with a “Hello” and a smile. All of the staff members are welcome and willing to answer any of the questions that you may have.

They have an array of French pastry options such as but not limited to, macarons, financier, amaretti, croissants, and a full coffee and tea bar with all the options you can think of. They offer indoor seating and outlets so you can dine and study!

miFLAVOUR has been in their Sprague location since November 2016.The business started due to Ella’s love of desserts and knew she wanted to pursue a career in it. Maximus (husband/co-founder) is an entrepreneur and created the brand and vision. They wanted to create something that Spokane had never experienced.  You may have driven past the building wondering what it is but have always been in too much of a hurry to stop, sit down and dine.

miFLAVOUR

“Sparkling clean and fully staffed facility. {Ella co-owner of miFLAVOUR}   We also play calming French music which transports you to a café in Paris. We also have lots of live plants which is quite soothing. Various seating options are available. Whether you want to sit on a soft bench or soft bar seating or chat with a friend at one of our tables that always has a bouquet of fresh flowers.”

If you walk into miFLAVOUR you’re bombarded and might be slightly overwhelmed with all of the options. From over thirty flavors of macarons, along with Canelé and Croquembouche. With all of those options there’s also a drink and adult beverage menu. The bakers and pastry cooks get to truly hand craft desserts, not just use pre-made mixes.

“I love the reactions of people that visit us. They are always so impressed with the atmosphere, the desserts,  that we are not a franchise and that we make everything in our facility. “

As for the future of miFLAVOUR they hope to expand their presence online with some nationwide shopping options. They want more people to experience the taste of miFLAVOUR even if they happen to not be local. Hopefully there will also be another café in the near future.

If you ever happen to be in the downtown or Sprague area then you definitely need to check out Madeline’s and miFLAVOUR, I can promise you that you will not be let down. Merci d’avoir goûté local!
