SFCC Soccer comes to an end in the Quarter Finals

The Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) Soccer teams have lost both of their playoff games.

“We knew after playing Clark earlier in the season at home and walking away with a 3-3 tie that this was going to be a physical, hard-fought battle,” said Jacob Fitterer, a player on the SFCC team. “We played our hearts out, and we went home with our heads held high on an amazing season.”

Even though the season ended in defeat the SFCC team had some amazing highlights for this year.

“Our first trip to Starfire at the beginning of the year was a highlight. We won our first three matches, including a come-from-behind win against Highline,” said Kenny Krestian, Head Coach for the Men’s Soccer team. “At one of our home games, Devin Leon scored a great overhead kick from 18 yards out.”

“I was pleased with our season. We ended the year at 13-6-3, losing in the quarter final via a shootout. We had a number of players step up through the year and we are already looking forward to next year,” said Krestian.

The season ended on a bittersweet note, and some students and players are wondering what will happen next season.

“Although we had a lot of sophomores this year, I think our freshmen class has great talent and leadership and with hard work in the off-season they should see themselves in another quarter final game next year, hopefully with a different result,” said Fitterer.

A new team next year after a good season and a hard fought battle. Now its time to plan and prepare for this next season by filling the gaps in SFCC’s team strategy.

“I think we need to continue to improve on our attacking tendencies as well as our ability to possess the ball. We created a number of great scoring chances this year and will look to score more goals next year,” said Krestian.

“We always set our goal of winning the NWAACC Championship. We will continue to improve and try again next year,” said Krestian.
