One of the most popular locations to meet new people can be related to a nightclub. You get dressed up with a group of friends and make your way to the local dance party where you can socialize and dance with new people and potentially gain new friends in the process.
Located towards the north side of Spokane is a top rated nightclub called SWAXX. On first arrival, it may not look like much, since its snugged into a corner next to a gas station and some other random building. For first-timers it can also be slightly difficult to spot. However, never judge a book by its cover.
It’s popularity can be assumed for its easy to listen to music that features top hits and for it’s dark, intimate setting. There are booths that line the room along with separate tables spread across the entire floor. Even on a busy night, there are plenty of seats for everyone who wants to take a break from dancing or to just relax. The easy access bar for twenty-one and up guests has a variety of drinks to bring even more flavor to your night.
A quality about this nightclub that makes it so desirable is that it’s one of the only clubs that frequently allow eighteen year olds inside instead of the usual twenty-one and up only policy.
One of it’s most popular nights is called its T.A.S.T.Y. nights. Every Tuesday night the club features its eighteen and up tolerance by having a themed night such as Mardi Gras. This night can be considered one of its most busiest.
“I really like the atmosphere of the club; there’s not so many people to make it overly crowded, but there’s not so few people to make it stupid.” SFCC graphic design student Taysha Lopez said.
T.A.S.T.Y. nights were first created on June 2, 2009 by DJ Hype and DJ Freaky Fred as an attempt to increase Spokanes nightlife and separate it from every other nightclub available to the public.
SWAXX allows eighteen year olds to enter the club on mostly every day of the week, with the exception of the days that it’s not open or for the nights strictly reserved for twenty-one and up guests, for a relatively low price. Prices for the cover fee vary from five dollars to fifteen. Covers for twenty-one and up customers are usually free or are very cheap.
The club offers a bar separate from the dancing area and has pool tables and couches to socialize with friends or meet new people.
SWAXX themes its nights to create a more interesting and more appealing atmosphere for its guests. It centers its themes around major holidays such as St. Patricks Day or Valentines Day.
While this nightclub may be centered more around the younger crowd of partiers, it is still an appropriate choice for the older guests who want to meet up and have some drinks.
The only downfall to this nightclub is that it is located a little ways away from the downtown hype. It may be more susceptible to dangerous activity and burglary if you don’t stash your belongings correctly or keep your doors locked. This type of activity, however, almost always pairs with going out to nightclubs so it’s common sense to keep everything locked up and out of sight of thieves.
The club may be smaller than most, but it still offers its guests a night of good music, good people and good drinks.
