There needs to be a change

The universal problem that affects campuses everywhere is student parking. The mere mention of parking to students gets them riled up and they’ll have a horror story to tell you about how they’ve had to fight for a spot.

When I walk around the campus I hear people complaining about parking problems. I know students that have to go and park on the opposite side of the campus from their class just to get a spot. You have to circle and circle the parking lots, waiting to strike before another student beats you to it. One of my friends gets to school 45 minutes to an hour prior to her classes to get a parking space.

It’s also hard to find spots to fit into all the time. There are inconsiderate drivers who like to park over lines, which leaves one less space available.

I know there’s tons of problems with parking and with such small availability it’s a struggle, but there are ways to lower the stress levels and at least try to make things better instead of complaining all the time. There are incentives that will give each person a 60 dollar gas card for carpooling. It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to apply for that.

When going to a public community college there’s going to be more people than parking spots and when you go to one you need to realize there’s going to be inconveniences.

Campus parking sucks. It’s a fact that you need to accept. In my opinion you need to get  over it. If it bothers you so much take public transportation. They put a bus stop there for a reason. Or carpool. Carpooling could lower your commuting costs and save on gas. It will also create a lot more room for others and would open up space closer to where others need to be for classes.
