After traveling to Sacramento, CA the SCC Rho Beta Psi (RBP), the criminal justice program, returns to Spokane with 24 awards from their regional conference.
The competition included several categories from a physical agility course to five criminal justice study related exams. Only 13 students from SCC went down for the competition and every student earned an award whether they it was a team award or an individual award.
RBP Club President, Joseph Carollo, managed to earn the top academic award as well as three other individual awards and three team awards at the competition.
“I was not anticipating them in any shape or form,” Carollo said. “it was really an honor for me and the whole team; It means alot to the program to win these awards.
Carollo sited the team work from his club as a key factor at their competition.
“I think it speaks a lot about the program,” Carollo said. “that we can show up and beat all these four year schools.”
Jesse Basey, another participant from SCC, was just as surprised as Carollo to hear SCC’s named called for all the awards.
“We really weren’t expecting to win whole we were their,” Basey said. “It got to a point where people actually stopped clapping for us every time we were called to the stage.”
