There is a definite art between juggling school, work, families, and relationships. Because of the fact that money is precious cargo to students, how can you date without breaking the bank?
Belle Sherry is a student at SFCC and understands the struggles of wanting to go out for a nice date with her boyfriend but being unable to afford the extravagant date.
“Ever since I was three, my mom and I have gone ice skating for my birthday,” said Belle. “It’s a tradition that will forever be in my life, and this year I finally took my boyfriend, and he was the first boyfriend to join in on this tradition. It was a blast.”
According to Riverfront Park’s website, there are “specials: $2 Thursdays, $1 Wednesday with College ID, $5 After School Special including skate rental.
Belle also enjoys staying in with her boyfriend and just cooking dinner together and then watching a movie.
However, to save on ticket prices at the theatre, Northtown Mall has a special every Tuesday where tickets are only $5 each.
“My girlfriend and I are both off on Tuesdays,” said Nick Lee, a former SFCC student. “It works out great and we can see movies we both like for the price of one.”
To save on parking at the AMC theatre downtown, park after 5:00 P.M. for $2 parking instead of $7. The Regal Cinemas at the Valley Mall has free parking.
For something unique, the trampoline park at Northtown Mall called Get Air! has trampolines, basketball courts, foam pits, obstacle courses, and dodge ball, and is only $12 per person for an hour.
If movie night or jumping around on trampolines is not appealing, then building a fire in a fire pit, roasting marshmallows and spending time together is also a fun option.
“During warm weather I like walking in the parks around town with my girlfriend,” Alex Lacy, an SFCC student said. “Lately we like to spend time in the libraries and coffee shops since it’s too cold to be outside for long.”
If you want to spend time together, go out and share a little extra love, you can go the local Humane Society and volunteer to help out with the dogs and cats.
“Spending time together and learning things together is a lot of fun and it will help you create a stronger relationship,” said Belle.
